This painting was selected as part of the annual Bank of America Juried Exhibition at Craven Arts Gallery in Bern, NC in 2022.

This is absolutely the most involved and detailed painting I have ever done. It started very loose in response to an online class I took. My problem, or perhaps blessing, is as I am working I start to see shapes that remind me of something animate and I can’t let them go. This painting took over 2 and 1/2 months to complete. There were so many times along the way that I felt like just painting over everything but a voice inside told me to see it through. This ended up being a deeply personal journey for me and a labor of fear, uncertainty and ultimately faith.

40” x 60”, acrylic on canvas
